I always had a gut feeling, creating, would be something in the future for me. Being able to run my own business and make something for my children, especially, my daughter to know she can do and become anything she wants to despite what life throws her way, is possible. I never thought embroidery would be the space for me, not to mention how it all came to be.
When I was pregnant with my second child, my husband and I made the decision to wait until birth to find out the gender. The planner in me, had to practice lots of restraint. I will say, it was one of the most magical moments of my life and certainly something I will never forget (I mean you wouldn't forget the birth of your children as it is anyway). The moment my husband announced we had a son, a new love like I never knew before was born, literally. I should preface this by saying, we had just moved, planned on remodeling & putting an addition on the house, so the nursery would not be...it still isn't (LOL). This really slammed the breaks on any prep I was ready to take on. The only thing I could really do, was buy all the gender-neutral clothing I could. I still would buy both girl and boy clothes, without going overboard- I absolutely had monogram gowns made for both genders, just in case. After Anthony was born, the clothing obsession for dressing a little boy started. We had a Beaufort Bonnet obsession with my daughter but MAN, it ramped up when I discovered how much fun it was dressing both of my kids in their super soft Pima cotton matching outfits. Many times, I opted to not have items monogrammed due to my impatience of time...I thought "surely I can do this myself."
...then I bought my first embroidery machine and... well, the learning curve. I had a time! I would stay up late, watch YouTube tutorials, read lots of forums, you name it, I was deep diving into the world of embroidery. I couldn't stop thinking about it, wanting to learn more and it just felt right. I didn't think twice when it came to investing into my business, the name of the shop hit me like a ton of bricks during a late-night nursing session. I knew I was onto something and if I didn't follow through, I would be in a world of regret. Soon enough, friends and family were flooding in with requests! Starting an embroidery business was never something I imagined but as life would have it, things always have a way of working out.
