This is inspired by my own Son's surprise gender birth!

Are you planning to wait until birth to find out the gender of your baby but still want to be prepared? I am here to help. In fact, I have already done it, myself!

My second child and only son, Anthony was a surprise gender birth. And it went a little something like this:

I am a planner through and through- especially when it comes to the birth of my children. As a now mother of 3, I feel as if I have the hospital bag packing, the prep work, and planning for the first few days home mastered. However, once my husband and I were preparing to welcome another baby into our family, he made the suggestion we wait until birth to find out if we were having a boy or a girl; I was very skeptical, and it took a bit for me to get onboard.

Having just moved into a new house, planning a build for an addition, I knew the nursery would not be ready. That was my moment, I knew, we would have nothing to lose in waiting to find out. I did the traditional "buy everything in two colors, with both names," wishing I had someone I could just send my gender results to!

The waiting game was hard, and at 36 weeks, I almost broke down and called my OB to find out, thankfully I did not. At 38.5 weeks, I was in labor and ready to meet our baby. The second child is where, "ignorance is bliss" is gone when it comes to labor, but knowing I was so close to meeting our baby, got me through, kept me focused and lead to a smooth birth.

Having my husband announce the gender as soon we Anthony was born, was and will always be one of the most memorable moments of our lives. I never felt like I missed out on any bonding time, or like I didn't know the baby I was carrying throughout pregnancy; it was quite the opposite. The moment I laid eyes on our son, I felt like I knew him my whole life. It was easily, the best decision we could've made. I didn't feel like I missed anything, I had his outfit ready, I had the matching blanket, there wasn't a detail missed. If you're wondering what I did with the girl outfits and blankets- I saved them. Our third child, and second daughter, Clara, was born in October 2024.

Planning the "perfect take home or baby announcement outfit" can be a project in itself and sometimes sway the minds of those who truly want to wait until birth to find out their baby's gender; however, not being able to have your ducks in a row can be the key factor that stops new or established parents from doing so! That's where I come in.

It's a simple process:

We will come up with a design for both genders ahead of time (font, thread color, motif, etc.). Once we have a plan for both, I am available either by phone, mail or email to be contacted by your midwife, nurse, OB, or whomever to release the gender information.

Your information will be safe with me until baby arrives! I will ship the box about 4-6 weeks prior to your due date.

Please send me an email at: islandhousecreative@outlook.com to begin the process.

I look forward to working with you!
